ARCHITECTS | »Interactive Oscar« :: Art by Tcha-Tcho to Celebrate Niemeyer’s 100th Birthday, 2007
To celebrate Niemeyer’s 100th birthday in 2007, estadão.com.br published a superb infographic special on the architect’s career.
I was especially taken with Tcha-Tcho’s three-dimensional renderings of 14 of Niemeyer’s works. They’re fun to play with and, stripped down to their essence, these models are a great way to appreciate the sinuous forms of Niemeyer’s art.
In particular, I like his rendering of the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi (Igreja de Sao Francisco de Asis), commonly referred to as Igreja da Pampulha) — it reminds me of a souvenir I picked up at the Church during my first visit to Brazil in ’95.
Bravo Eduardo Malpeli (Tcha-Tcho)!
