When I was a kid, I picked up this edition of National Geographic magazine somewhere and immediately fell in love with architecture. Brasilia was unlike anything else I’d ever seen. A Space Age Utopia in the middle of the Brazilian altoplano designed by Lúcio Costa with architecture by a then middle-aged Oscar Niemeyer.

Finding this issue of this particular magazine was a pivotal moment in my life.

I haven’t seen this issue in decades. Now it has come back to me and I’m a happy, happy, guy, rediscovering a long lost childhood artefact.

With extreme gratitude to Franny Wentzel, Citynoise, for originally posting it.

Augusto Cesar Baptista Areal in Brasília sent me the following double-spreads which he has miraculously joined together with PhotoShop. Many thanks, Augusto!
