Imelda’s “Pantheon” caused much controversy in its day. It especially enraged Ninoy Aquino; one of his most famous speeches in the senate entitled “A Pantheon for Imelda,” delivered on February 10, 1969, heavily criticized Imelda Marcos’s 50-million-peso CCP project, calling it “a monument to shame” and the “most scandalous misspending of national funds.”

The following six photographs are from The Architecture of Leandro V. Locsin, a beautiful (and rather rare) coffee table book published in 1977.
The photographs following the historical photographs were taken in December 2009.
